Hand-Painted No Parking Signs

A series of photos I took on found typography. I decided to look at hand painted ‘No Parking’ signs. Its interesting to see the variety of colours and styles, and how that effects the message it is trying to portray. Some have the signs also have such interesting textures which you getting from the handmade approach.

Alfred Hitchcock Film Posters

I created a series of minimal film posters for a number of Alfred Hitchcock films. I focused on the cameo roles he plays in each of his films and the character traits surrounding these cameos.

4 of my posters were exhibited at the Arts University College of Bournemouth in May 2011, along with a hardback book which contained the full series of posters.

3 Dimensional Typography

Our brief was to present the words Graphic Design 3-Dimensionally, using the typeface we had been given randomly. Ours was Clarendon Bold.

This was our outcome, a 2ft tall lowercase character with the words graphic design in uppcase attached. We used the laser cutter to cut out 6 layers of wood, which we then stuck together, primed and painted. I was very pleased with the outcome and we have had a number of hits on this design website which is very satisfying.

Designed and created by Lewis Allen and Matthew Abreu.
